Doctors Without Borders
On November 7, 2008, the seniors at High Tech High International took a suprise trip down to Balboa Park for an unforgettable day. The purpose was to view life outside of the states through the life of a refugee.

Millions of people everywhere around the world, 15 minutes south of the border, live in poverty and die every year because of war, water shortage, lack of education, sickness, and draft. Doctors Without Borders is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists.

If a war were to happen tomorrow, would you be able to grab a few things (that you, yourself, had to carry) and leave your house? Would you wait for your husband or wife, mother or father to come home before leaving? Would you leave without them? Could you endure a 10 mile walk in one day with only a gallon of water while carrying your home on your back? People live through this EVERY DAY.

As a high school student, I hardly cared (before) about outside life. Sure, people suffer all over the world but I can't always be preoccupied about others, I need to take care of myself and work towards a future. I want to be a doctor. I want to travel. Doctors Without Borders is a job I can see myself participating in. To learn more about this organization go to: http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/aboutus/
